ROME, Ga.—March 22, 2016—Rome Shakespeare Festival will hold auditions at the Cedartown Performing Arts Center Thursday, April 7 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to cast its 2016/2017 shows and find eight additional fairies for this year’s festival performances of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in downtown Rome. Shows being cast are “Romeo and Juliet,” “Twelfth Night,” “America: The Dream” and a musical curtain raiser based on one of Grimms’ Fairy Tales.
Rome Shakespeare Festival is looking for children to play Peter, Potpan and other servants in “Romeo and Juliet,” and to perform in a musical curtain raiser for the show. Those auditioning should be between the ages of 10 and 16. RSF also needs eight fairies and goblins between the ages of 10 and 15 for festival performances on Rome’s Town Green scheduled for May 31 through June 5. The newly cast children will join the 13 fairies and goblins already cast in the show. The auditions are:

Adults are also needed for “Romeo and Juliet,” “Twelfth Night” and “America: The Dream.” Those auditions:

Student performances of “Romeo and Juliet” will take place fall 2016. The cast will perform for middle and high school students and assist with in-school Shakespeare workshops.
“Twelfth Night” and “Romeo and Juliet” will be performed at the second annual Shakespeare Festival on the Town Green in downtown Rome in 2017. May 31-June 5 this year, Rome Shakespeare Festival will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on the Town Green each evening at 8 p.m. Audience members will be able to reserve picnic tables or bring a blanket to picnic on the lawn. They can also purchase picnic dinners from local restaurants to pick up on the way to the Town Green and enjoy during the show. Picnic tables and dinners can be purchased online at romeshakespearefestival.com.
